If you didn’t get into the school of your choice, chances are you can still find a terrific school through Open Enrollment. 270 campuses in LAUSD are seeking students to fills its classrooms, nearly 10,000 seats altogether (more details from LAUSD in English. or In Spanish.). Open enrollment is as strong as ever with more campuses enrolling than last year. We have another map up, or check out the rosters of schools by school or by district.

The application is easy and is due before June 3
1.Complete the application with accurate information (name, address, and information regarding students with some special needs).
2. Take the application to your home school for a signature by an administrator to verify.
3. Drop off your application at the school you are applying too and get an administrator their to sign it.
There is no limit to how many schools you can apply to, but out of courtesy to your community keep it within reason.
The map, this was created using the district’s data and running it through a few online tools, please verify the school location when submitting an application.
A few last things:
- Schools with more applications than spaces hold a lottery in June between the 7th and 10th
- You must provide your own transportation
- Once you are accepted you may continue to attend that school to its highest grade without reapplying.
- Open enrollment can be subject to “under enrollment” so be persistent and when you go to drop off your application. It never hurts to mention any awards or other commendations your child has received.
